Current Home Free Year of Electricity Program
- As part of the Current Home Solar Program, qualifying customers may receive a free year of electricity from their solar system. This benefit is designed to help reduce your upfront energy costs while you transition to clean, renewable energy.
- How the Program Works
- When you go solar, your monthly energy costs are typically divided into two parts:
- Solar System Payment – the cost of generating electricity through your solar system.
- Utility Charges – small remaining charges from your utility company, often called non-bypassable or minimum charges.
- What Current Home Covers
- Current Home covers the full cost of your solar system payment for your first 12 months:
- Your monthly solar payment is calculated at the time of installation.
- That monthly amount is multiplied by 12 months.
- You receive that total as a rebate, effectively giving you a free year of solar electricity.
- What Remains the Customer’s Responsibility
- Utility companies may still apply certain non-bypassable or minimum charges. These charges are set by the utility provider and are outside of Current Home’s control. They are typically much smaller than a traditional electric bill and remain payable directly to the utility company.
- Example
- Previous electric bill: $300 per month
- New solar system payment: $300 per month
- Remaining utility charges: $20 per month
- Current Home reimburses $300 x 12 months = $3,600
- The $20 monthly utility charge remains payable to the utility company
