Thalia M. Johnson

My journey in the workforce began as a busser, where I worked my way up to becoming a server at the same restaurant over three years. This early experience instilled in me a strong work ethic, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments. Transitioning to babysitting and later becoming a nanny/teacher for a child with special needs further honed my organizational skills, while ensuring the child's educational and personal needs were met with care and attention to detail. During my time as a nanny/teacher, I not only provided educational support but also assumed additional responsibilities within the household due to the family's circumstances. This role required me to maintain schedules, devise learning activities tailored to the child's needs, handle household tasks, and offer emotional support during challenging times. These experiences taught me the importance of flexibility, empathy, and effective communication, skills that I have continued to cultivate in subsequent roles. As a summer intern at ReThink Literacy, I spearheaded content creation and social media marketing initiatives to promote the tutoring business. Leveraging platforms such as Canva, TikTok, Instagram, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator, I developed engaging content strategies aimed at expanding clientele and enhancing brand visibility. My ability to conceptualize and execute marketing campaigns enabled me to contribute significantly to the company's growth objectives. In my current role as a substitute teacher, primarily working with middle school students, I have further refined my communication skills and demonstrated adaptability in diverse classroom settings. My passion for fostering creativity and facilitating learning has allowed me to positively impact the lives of students while maintaining a supportive and collaborative environment. Outside of work, my love for fashion, health, beauty, and creativity fuels my desire to excel in any role I undertake. I am committed to delivering results, consistently striving to exceed expectations and contribute to the success of any team I'm on. With a reputation for reliability, diligence, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, I am confident in my ability to make a meaningful contribution to any position that aligns with my skill set. My skills outlined above along with my recent Communications degree from the University of Maryland, have prepared me to become a productive member of a team. As you can see my willingness to learn, my drive for success and my strength of adaptability would be an asset to my growth and to any company that provides me with an opportunity to showcase myself.
