Worked as a branch manager in banking immediately after college for SunTrust. Found out I enjoyed working with my hands and building knowledge and became a General contractor and was lucky enough to get hired by a company performing construction throughout the Caribbean. I always enjoyed working with my hands and enjoyed the satisfaction of seeing a project from start to finish. The one area I need more experience in is mastering the different computer programs available in the building industry. Most of my working life has been in construction.
Worked on offshore commercial and residential projects throughout the Caribbean area.
Duties included planning logistics for material shipments and labor for the various projects.
Onsite duties included site layout, footers, concrete forming for slabs and columns, steel placement, wall erection, truss placement, decking for subfloors and roof sheathing. Supervised 3-15 crew depending on job and location. Worked with and scheduled mechanical, electrical and plumbing subs when required. Also layed out and placed Bellingham floating concrete docks for the Bimini Sands Marina in Bimini Bahamas. Bimini Sands is a 216 unit condo and townhome development in Bimini. All units were constructed with light gauge structural steel and concrete.
Also built seven Buildings on Walkers Cay in the Bahamas. These were used as employee housing and recreation. These buildings were the only remaining structures after Hurricane Hugo destroyed all the buildings on the island.
Built a gymnasium on Andros Island in the Bahamas that was used as a hurricane shelter by the island residents during Hurricane Andrew in 1992.
