Throughout my whole life, I have experienced a wide variety of cultures- I am Ghanaian-American and due to my mom's job, I have had the opportunity of being educated in three different continents; Africa, Europe and North America. This multicultural background sparked in me a great interest in understanding relations between different countries and their differences in government. Having mainly grown up in Ghana and Denmark, (a third-world African country and a high-income country) has exposed me to the vibrancy of life and has raised my interest in the realities of globalisation, challenges, the injustice in society and the different legal systems in the world, thus making me eager to understand and be a solution in my 'own small way'.
I stand for women's empowerment and want to make a difference and an impact in society. As an aspiring lawyer, I will be in a unique position to help individuals, groups, and organisations with their legal problems and make meaningful contributions to society. As an active and easily adaptable individual who has experienced different cultures, I am compassionate and a problem solver and able to quickly adapt to my surroundings because of the many places, exposures and surroundings I have been in. I can take open-minded approaches to both individual and team tasks, and have vast experience in charity work, promoting and negotiating funds for causes, especially for the development of women and children, due to my education and what I have been exposed to so far. I am looking for a diverse environment that will accept me and my strengths, which will enable me to lead and work alongside others to make a positive contribution to businesses or people around me. I am kind, creative and uniquely positioned to handle and tackle any problem by thinking outside of the box and looking at things from different points of view. I am looking for experience in the field of law to gain valuable skills that can one day enable me to positively impact others and speak up for those that cannot do so.
In my free time, I am part of my church choir, I paint, swim and enjoy reading novels and investigative books. I have participated in Operation Wallacea in Dominica, which was to study Ocean and wildlife conservation and worked alongside a team of international researchers to collect data on the biodiversity of taxa and scuba diving to research whales, which I am extremely proud of. I was also part of the drama club and yearbook committee at Rygaards International School in Denmark and was awarded an outstanding achievement prize in English. I have volunteered at The Log House and Salvation Army, in Regina, Canada. I have also done an internship at Equator Law and with Margaret Carey-McCray, a judge for the Fourth Judicial District of Mississippi. I am therefore seeking to learn more and be open to anything, even the most avant-garde ideas, whilst studying in the UK and will use the knowledge gained to support my country Ghana and Africa as a whole.
