Thinh Tran

Mr. Tran serves as the Director of the Landscape Architecture Department at WLB, an LJA Company where he oversees the design, management, and execution of a broad range of landscape architectural projects. With more than 31 years of professional experience, he brings a depth of expertise in site design, project management, and construction coordination across both public and private sectors. In his current role, Mr. Tran is responsible for supervising landscape designers, delegating tasks effectively, ensuring quality assurance throughout the design process, and reviewing plans, specifications, and technical drawings for accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Mr. Tran’s career is distinguished by his work in municipal parks, trail systems, streetscapes, and community recreation facilities. His approach blends functionality, sustainability, and aesthetics, resulting in environments that not only meet the technical and regulatory demands of public infrastructure but also provide meaningful, beautiful, and inclusive user experiences. He has guided projects from conceptual planning through construction completion, ensuring that each stage aligns with client goals, budget expectations, and environmental context.

As a leader in the field, Mr. Tran works closely with municipalities, public agencies, and stakeholder groups to ensure project success through open communication, collaborative problem-solving, and thorough documentation. He is adept at facilitating public outreach processes, incorporating community feedback into design iterations, and addressing diverse user needs, including accessibility and long-term maintenance requirements for project upkeep.

In addition to his municipal work, Mr. Tran has led the planning and design of numerous residential

and commercial developments, including single-family neighborhoods, multi-family housing, retail centers, and mixed-use environments. His strength lies in translating land use objectives into site plans that maximize efficiency, respect and utilize natural features, and integrate infrastructure seamlessly. His understanding of entitlement procedures, including zoning adjustments and land use plan amendments, allows him to support clients through often

complex regulatory processes, working in tandem with planners, legal teams, and agency reviewers.

Mr. Tran’s work often involves the integration of pedestrian and bicycle networks, stormwater management systems, and native or drought-tolerant planting palettes that support regional sustainability goals. He maintains a practical perspective on constructibility, leveraging his experience in construction administration to resolve field issues, manage contractor coordination, and ensure that designs are implemented as intended. His focus on ADA compliance, irrigation efficiency, grading, and planting design further reinforces his commitment to delivering landscapes that are accessible, maintainable, and resilient.

Under Mr. Tran’s leadership, the Landscape Architecture Department consistently produces thoughtful, high-performing outdoor environments that enhance public life and community identity.
