  • This is a startup machine shop where I engaged in a fun project which was defined as follows: Determine if it is possible to overhaul an old vertical CNC mill by replacing controller and one of the three axis with a new driver and stepper motor.
  • Worked with business owner to provide specifications of computer system and motors
  • I educated myself about CNC milling machine basics and LinuxCNC software.
  • Setup and tested LinuxCNC software with a Mesa control board and closed-loop stepper motor driver.
  • Mounted motor to mill Y-axis with correct power and control wiring. Tested motor acceleration and workpad limit switches are functioning.
