- Decontamination Proficiency: Strict adherence to the wearing of PPE's. Followed manufacturer's recommendation for the use of cleaning guidelines; selected & operated cleaning equipment (i.e. ultrasonic cleaners & mechanical washers).Execute strict decontamination procedures, including thorough inspection, disassembly, and cleaning of surgical instruments through manual or mechanical means.
- Instrument Assembly: Organize and assemble instrument trays with precise attention to detail, including Laparoscopic, Neuro, Ortho, Spine, Synthes Implant Trays, Loaners, DePuy, major and minor breast and plastic, Stryker guns, and Camera trays, while identifying and addressing defects.
- Prep and Packaging: Proficient with the envelope and square fold technique using dual ply wraps, as well as single/double peel pouching that ensures the correct protection and orientation of instruments to allow for aseptic presentation in the OR.
- Sterilization Proficiency: Operate sterilization equipment including Steam and Sterrad machines, as well as proper documentation and incubation of the BI for each load.
- Phones: Effectively answer phone calls from the OR and other areas of the hospital, ensuring they receive the item they request in a timely manner.
- Inventory Management: Familiar with SPM tracking system and its use in maintaining inventory, ensuring timely availability of sterile instruments for medical procedures and surgeries.
- Endoscope Reprocessing: Experience with leak testing, manual cleaning of scopes as well as the correct storage and handling of various scopes.
- Loaner Processing: Effectively checking in and checking out loaners to be used and processed in SPD department and OR.
- Patient Care Equipment: Responsible for collecting and cleaning various equipment such as IV poles/pumps, syringe pumps, feeding pumps and sequential compression devices.
- Protocol Adherence: Strictly follow infection control and safety procedures, contributing to a sterile and safe healthcare environment.
