Work History

Peer Support Specialist Coordinator for Linn and Polk County

Project ABLE
01.2012 - 08.2016
  • Company Overview: Website https://projectable.org
  • Project ABLE and I provided services in 2 counties. Linn County until the contract ended in 2014, then Polk County until 2016. I met with mental health caseworkers, matched their client referrals with our trained Peer Support Specialist, and formed wrap-around teams for the client. We also supported the individuals in developing natural supports and connecting clients to community resources. Also, I managed the Peer Supports and payroll. We did bi-monthly check-in meetings with our Peers so I could evaluate their team's progress, brainstorm ideas, and collect paperwork. I also developed a curriculum and role plays to encourage advancement and confidence in their skills and techniques.

More Training and Advocacy Work

  • I have also trained to facilitate and co-lead Living Well with Chronic Diseases and Pain. It's a Stanford University self-manager program. Also, I have taught Medication Empowerment classes.
  • 2014-2019 I was fortunate enough to be invited to participate in Oregon's Police sensitivity training and role-playing. That contract was through the Psychiatric Crisis Center. Project ABLE supplied the actors to portray a mental health crisis situation with different scenarios. It was a fun and educational experience.
  • 2010-2016 Behavioral Care Network (Salem, OR): I was a consumer advocate on many committees. The MVBCN was a Managed Behavioral Healthcare Organization directed by a partnership of consumer advocates and service providers who offer a continuum of mental health and chemical dependency services.
  • 2009- 2024 New Perspectives Center (Salem, OR): I attended their quality improvement plan meetings monthly.
  • 2009- still active: Project ABLE, I am President of the Board of Directors
