Biography

  • Tonia Magras is the Chief Operating Officer of Hull Bay Productions, where she serves in the roles of producer, director, and editor. She is a multi-award-winning creative who takes pride in being a multi-faceted and multi-dimensional content creator of projects that range from sports, arts, politics, and social justice.
  • Tonia has over 35 years of production experience, which began at PBS's flagship television station, WGBH-TV, in Boston and continues with Hull Bay Productions, which she and her husband, Gregory, established in January 2015.
  • Tonia’s work has been recognized with 7 Emmy Award nominations, and 3 Emmy wins for her various documentary and producing work.
  • In January 2020, Tonia launched her podcast, The Power PLAY Show, which has already received 14 awards, including four awards of excellence and 10 awards of distinction from The Communicator Awards, as well as Honorable Mention from the Webby Awards. Tonia is also the recipient of a Gold Telly Award for Best Documentary for the film, “More Than Our Skin”; a 2023 Davey Award for her work on the podcast, and she placed as a quarterfinalist in the 2023 Scriptation Showcase award for her upcoming film project, “do you remember me?”
  • In addition to her numerous accolades, Tonia has made her mark in the filmmaking circuit with a number of festival selections and wins for three of Hull Bay’s films. The first film from Hull Bay Productions, “100 Years, 100 Voices of Faith,” chronicles the rise of Cambridge's Abundant Life Church as it celebrates 100 years of service. The second film, “More Than Our Skin,” is the story of five women living with the auto-immune disease Vitiligo. The third film, “do you remember me?” was released earlier this year.
  • In 2022, Tonia’s first children's book, “Autumn's Adventures: The Little Girl in the Big Chair” was released by Dorrance Publishing. Autumn's Adventures follows Autumn as she finds ways to help others and herself while on big adventures. The book and its accompanying series will highlight Autumn in various stories, offering lessons in problem-solving, relationship building, and conflict resolution through fun and exciting adventures.
  • Tonia is happily married to her husband and business partner, Gregory, for 16 years. They share a blended family of six children: Ashleigh, Khyal, Jamie (deceased), Jodie, Joslyn, and Javier, as well as a beautiful granddaughter, Autumn. Tonia and her family reside in central Massachusetts, along with their rescue dog Chassy.
