As a Field Agent for Probation and Parole my duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintenance, surveillance and supervision of adult probationers/parolees.
  • Maintain standards of supervision to provide public safety and assist offenders in the re-socialization and reintegration into communities as law abiding citizens.
  • Documentation in the case management system.
  • Monitor compliance and progress.
  • Provide courts, boards, institutions and other states with offender progress reports, violation reports and recommendations such as modification of sentences to include revocation.
  • Investigation of violations, reports, and safety concerns.
  • Conducting Pre-sentence Investigations which entails research of Affidavit of Probable Cause and supporting documents of pending charges, the Defendant's criminal history, drug and alcohol abuse history to include any treatment, criminal attitudes per assessment rating, and other factors considered to provide the courts with information through written PSI reports and to provide a sentencing recommendations in regard to the pending charges.
  • Compliance checks in the field.
  • Conducts Search and Seizures of evidence.
  • Conduct Arrest and Jail Sanctions as required.
  • Utilize de-escalation skills to diffuse conflict and tense situations. Offering active listening, empathy, and respect, etc. all while maintaining the safety of the client and others present.
  • Facilitate cognitive behavioral programs. To include Core Correctional Practices (CCP).
  • Facilitate Risk/Needs assessments to include Ohio Risk Assessment System - Community Supervision Tool (ORAS-CST), Domestic Violence Screening Inventory - Revised (DVSI-R), Impaired Driver Assessment (IDA), Sexual Recidivism Risk Assessment (STATIC-99-R), STABLE-2007 (Dynamic risk assessment tool of sexual recidivism in adult males), Acute Care Assessment Tool (ACUTE) for sex offenders.
  • Collect and interpret drug screening/testing.
  • Work with high risk offenders. - My case load specializes in sex offenders, with additional cases of various offenses to include but not limited to: drug charges, domestic violence and assault charges, DUI, theft, and any other misdemeanor and/or felony charges applicable.
  • I oversee the supervision of all veterans that come through the Interstate Compact Offices from other states for treatment at the VA Hospital facility in Sheridan, WY. I work directly with the Justice Outreach Coordinator, Marie Hardaker.
  • Give testimony in court as applicable.
  • Compose and submit affidavits, staffing reports and other legal documents to the court.
  • Interviews, evaluates and conducts investigations to determine individual risk and needs of probationers and parolees.
  • Maintains case management files.
  • Develops case plans designed around offenders individual risk and needs,
  • Interprets data from various assessment tools for risk level and supervision determinations.
  • While in this position I have also resumed the responsibilities of Safety Training FTO for the Department.
  • While in this position I have also resumed the responsibilities of Krav Maga Instructor (Self Defense Tactics used by the Department).
  • While in this position I have also resumed the responsibilities of aiding as a Field Agent FTO for our district.

Within the scope of facility policy my duties while in these positions included but were not limited to:

  • Decision making regarding program/activity adjustments and changes to resident program needs.

NSLS is a College Honor Society whose main purpose is to teach students the skills necessary to be successful in college and as they transition to the workforce.
