Yesterday evening, one of our primary care patients who was an older adult with suspected cognitive impairment wandered from his car in our parking lot and was no where to be found. His wife was obviously concerned for his safety, as was our staff due to his recent history of falling and his potentially impaired cognition. Dr. Amy Balentine and MOA Toya went above and beyond to help this patient and his family. They caringly convinced the patient’s wife to call the police to help with their search even though they were intially anxious to do so. They also stayed quite late- several hours past the end of their shifts- to make sure that the pt’s wife got connected with police and provided additional information to the police (with the wife’s permission) to help them understand the urgency of finding him. Thankfully the patient was located, assessed at a local ER and discharged to home. The office manager checked on him today with a phone call and all is well. But a big shout out to these two dedicated healthcare workers who took this patient’s safety seriously and stayed late to do what they could to help get him home safely! Good work, Dr. Balentine, Toya, and team MMG Country Village!
