Tracy Seipel

I work closely with the Director of Storytelling to put a human face and voice on what makes Santa Clara University unique by writing engaging stories about faculty, students, alumni and innovative programs with the goal of recruiting students, and assisting with fundraising. I also:

• Contribute to content in multiple mediums including SCU's homepage, Santa Clara Magazine, UMC's monthly newsletter, video profiles on social media, view books and annual reports
• Ensure content reflects University priorities and areas of differentiation, from student well-being, affordability, and SCU's teacher-scholar mode to Jesuit values, undergraduate research opportunities and interdisciplinary learning
• Ensure content reflects Santa Clara's commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in all marketing efforts

As a beat reporter, I wrote stories that required careful planning and scheduling to stay on top of daily developments, as well as breaking news stories and human interest pieces. I also:

• Collaborated daily with reporters, editors, and photographers to deliver high-quality content
• Proofread, edited and evaluated final copy to verify content aligned with established guidelines of accuracy, balance, and fairness
• Worked with fellow assigning editors, copy desk, and page designers; edited and supervised longer-range enterprise stories, and handled multiple editing assignments on deadline
