We use multiple procedures to build, load, and off load railcars. Different type of equipment we use to off load crude oil and wax are hoses, harnesses, and pipe wrenches. We also use hoses to load diesel and gasoline into railcars. To safely and successfully navigate around the rail yard we used radio communications to drive the locomotives, throw switches, and to build trains safely and efficiently.

At Signode we worked 12 hour shifts to maintain control of product to create plastic film for our customers. We got plastic chemical pellets from hopper railcars and off loaded them into silos using hoses. We also used hoses to push the pellets in our extruders to begin the heating up process. once the pellets were heated up enough they came through our dye line onto rollers than placed on cardboard holders to hold in place the plastic film. Here i learned lots of trouble shooting techniques on equipment and process issues. We also coordinated mechanical activities in assigned areas including clearing and tagging equipment prior to mechanical work. We did these task while maintaing compliance with health, safety, and environment practices.

This job was a great learning experience for me while i was pursuing my career as a Process Operator at LSCO. I learned how to work in team oriented groups to get jobs done safely and efficiently. It help me to create a good work habit and develop skills i use and carry on with me today. It also helped me maintain workplace safety by adhering to company guidelines and promptly addressing potential hazards.
