I've worked for Mineola for 4 years now. In that time I've continued to grow my skill set and have strived to be part of the growth of the agency as a whole. Most notably, my creating of the DWI Checklist which consists of more than 4,000 words over 7 pages so I can better help those around me. As an FTO, I have taken the "Frontline Supervisor" course and have trained 5 officers, three of which were fresh rookies, during my time here at Mineola. I am proficient as a patrol officer needing minimal supervision and I very rarely have to call any on duty or on call supervisor for guidance on how to handle a situation, and when I do, that person generally has not encountered the situation either. I have 7 years of experience on patrol with an additional 3-4 years of experience working in the jail plus around a year of experience as a supervisor in the jail. I have a good working relationship with everyone here and I feel I have the support from most of patrol to be a supervisor. It is time for me to advance my career and move up the ladder to take on more responsibility with hopes and improving morale and self-initiated activity within patrol.
Received Life Saving Award in 2019 for pulling an injured motorist from a burning vehicle while with the Wood County Sheriff's Office and then rendering first aid.
Two written accommodations earned here with Mineola PD. One for donating a child's car seat to a motorist I had stopped who had an unrestrained child but could not afford to purchase a seat. I took this course of action in lieu of issuing a citation understanding that there is more to being a police officer than simply making arrests or issuing citations. A second for going above and beyond what is expected by the agency for keeping not only mine but other patrol units in the fleet clean so that our agency gives the appearance of pride in its equipment that the taxpayers paid for. I believe both of those accommodations demonstrate a community-oriented mindset and having an eye for keeping vehicles clean can also be beneficial as a supervisor by encouraging other officers to do the same leading by example.
