Research proposal:
A qualitative study on the effectiveness of Recovery Support Peer Specialists (RSPS) with incarcerated females in Texas.
Hypothesis:
There is a correlation between working with a Recovery Support Peer Specialist (RSPS) and increased recovery capital for incarcerated females in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) system’s Dr. Lane Murray unit.
Summary:
This research proposal aimed to investigate the effectiveness of recovery support peer specialists in aiding incarcerated females in Texas. The study, when conducted, will employ a qualitative approach, focusing on the lived experiences and perspectives of both the incarcerated women and the peer specialists. The research seeks to understand how these peer specialists contribute to the recovery process, enhance coping strategies, and facilitate reintegration into society post-incarceration.
