Accomplishments

  • Successfully carried out an advocacy project with the focus on developing self management tools for patients with various chronic conditions including but not limited to AMPS, fibromyalgia, lupus, benign hypermobilty syndrome and EDS, and JIA. Tools consisted of patient education handouts focusing on the areas of pain management, sleep hygiene, assistive equipment, medication management, fatigue management, and joint protection.
  • Took the opportunity to present my self management tools to rheumatology clinicians including physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and social workers as well as implement my program with patients at the time of provider visits with the goal of developing early self management skills in the pediatric population.
