I grew up working on the farm as a kid. I went to St. Patrick's Catholic School in Sheldon, Iowa through 8th grade. I then went to Sheldon High School from 9th-12th grade and graduated in 1992. I went onto NCC for Heavy Equipment. I ran dozers, scrapers, excavators, surveying, and grade cuts. I ended up in Who's Who in Washington, D.C. for being the best in the class. After that I went to Ritter Farmers Coop and drove semi there hauling grain. I ended up getting my own truck with my dad and uncle. I ran and dispatched the trucks until my wife and I decided we wanted to start having a family. We had a child that had a congenital heart disease which made me have to get out of the trucking industry because of health insurance. I started working for Deluxe Feeds in Sheldon, Iowa hauling feed for them. I worked there until I started working at the DOT in 2011. I've been on various different construction projects as well as operating equipment, flagging, emergency calls, etc.
