Academic struggles
- My college experience began at Baylor University. In Waco, I realized the crowd, culture, and atmosphere were not for me. The first year of college was stressful and overwhelming until I transferred.
- A Pre-Calculus class I took was a struggle for me in regard to having a teacher who spoke little English. The battles with this class were ongoing until they were over. Luckily, I was able to sneak out with a seventy.
Workfield & Animal Care
- As a college student operating and managing a breeding ranch in Mason, TX. Many struggles and tough decisions are faced daily. Many times, I have made a call to dart an animal, and ended up worsening the situation. For example, medicating an animal's leg instead of it naturally letting it heal. Overall, tough decisions are made daily, and it's important to learn from them and go with your gut.
- Another example of a difficult time in the field was being the youngest kid managing the operation. Lots of guys will downplay my ability and assume the young buck does not know what he is doing. This has caused commotion and disagreement, which ultimately leads to trust issues and bigger dilemmas.
Personal Challenges
- Time management has been an issue as a college student with lots on my plate. Finding a balance in going out, working, and school is something I plan to achieve.
- A deep topic that has helped me face adversity is losing a close friend of mine. This has taught me to take everything for granted, face challenges, and always help one in need.
