Staffing:

  • Receive and process call-outs from wholly-owned entity employees by documenting within UKG, notifying the unit or entity point-of-contact, and completing the call-out form that generates an automated email notification to the employee's leadership team at the entity.
  • Continuous monitoring of shared email inbox, including prompt responses to questions and requests for staffing coverage, as well as requests to complete scheduling corrections or changes.
  • Collaboration with the entity Administrative Supervisor or designee to ensure current staffing needs are documented, and appropriate coverage by available specialty or service line staff is met.
  • Oversee the outstanding staffing needs for 3 to 8 entities, as assigned, per shift.

Patient Logistics:

  • Assessment of the patient's chart on admission from the entity's ED, from another entity, Operating Room or PACU, at level of care change, or when requested to move off of the assigned unit to determine if the currently ordered Level of Care is appropriate for the patient at the assigned entity.
  • Determining and assigning a patient to the unit at the entity where the patient will receive the most appropriate care based on chart assessment.
  • Coordination of care with the entity's Administrative Supervisor or unit Charge Nurse when clarification is needed, or when the Level of Care and patient's presentation based on chart assessment appear incompatible.
  • Rapid assessment of the chart and coordination with the Administrative Supervisor or unit charge on initiation of Rapid Response Team or Code Blue. Manual creation of bed requests during emergent transfers within the entity.
  • Receive calls or secure messages with requests or questions from the entity staff and promptly respond, or escalate to the appropriate personnel if out of scope of practice.
  • Quick registration and creation of an encounter for patients being directly admitted to the entity from home or clinic. Escalation of transfer requests for inpatient-to-inpatient to the Clinical or Behavioral Health Transfer Center team.
  • Oversee the logistics of patients within 1 to 7 entities at a time, as assigned, per shift.
  • Precept employees to new bed control stations and staffing stations to meet the operational needs of the department.
