Prepare and maintain equipment for prescribed fire, such as drip torches, hand tools, fuel, radios, PPE, ATVs, UTV, swamp buggies, spray rigs and tractors.

I primarily operate the tractor and water Buffalo as the "engine boss" on our prescribed fires for suppression. I have led my own team of 3 others on a fire while running the tractor (it went smoothly :D).

Mow & disc fire lines. Repair roads by filling and grading with tractor. Install gates/fences.

Treat exotic/native nuisance plants on the entire 13,000+ acre Sanctuary. From a variety of equipment such as swamp buggies, ATVs, UTVs, airboats, backpack sprayers and teardrop sprayers.

Track and upload GPS data of treatment tracks which consists of plant species treated, type of chemical used and amount, equipment used and who you may have worked with.

Collaboration with volunteers on prescribed fires and other land steward activities such as trimming, treating invasive plants, special events and Christmas bird counts.

Chainsaw operations, cutting down dangerous snags or trees that have fallen on roads/pathways. Trail trimming.

Helped customers find plants that they liked and that worked with their property.

Installed and designed landscapes.

Worked with many different folks from all over the world. It was a good experience working and communicating with others that didn't speak the same language as I.

Learned many native plants and plants in general during my time here.

Working in swfl as a landscaper will surely toughen you up and instill a good work ethic :) .

Gained experience traveling with a long trailer.

Worked on many highways during my time here for 10 hours a day. Another work ethic instilling job and enduring Florida's weather.

We had a 4 man team which really relied on communication through our two way radios.

Good experience working in Florida's woods and using machetes to cut lines.
