Accomplishments

  • During my tenure in graduate school, my peers and I created a crowdsourcing and archive project for queer individuals in the Appalachian region. With this project, we investigated current literature about this demographic through a historiographic survey, created a timeline of events that set the wider context for understanding these communities, and mapped places where these queer individuals lived their lives and interacted with these isolated subcultures. Lastly, this was also a mapping project to show how widespread these identities were, and why they remain central to academic history.
