Summary

I graduated high school May of 2019. My next step was attending classes at Savannah College of Art and Design. I took some time off of college after the Winter quarter of 2021 due to Covid-19. Taking a few months to focus on my personal growth and development. I started working more increasing my savings to better support myself through college. Please see below for some of the various projects I participated in during this time period.

When the protocol for Covid was stricter I decided to take an online writing course through Emory University. I have three passions: yoga, fashion, and writing. After taking the writing course I decided to take an image consulting course to see if a styling career might fit better than fashion design for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and found that the fascination of garment construction still held true for me. This is what brought me back to Scad, the fascination with how fashion is made and evolves into art. I continued there until my physical and mental health started declining. I started to attend yoga classes on campus and that was the only time I could breathe and focus. I decided from that moment forward I was going to put my energy into pursuing a career that I enjoy and provides a healthy lifestyle for me. Becoming a Yoga teacher through Kripalu I found such an inviting and open minded community. I want to bring that safe space into my practice and have my students feel welcomed and accepted while I guide them in my sessions.

I gained so much knowledge about how to guide others through yoga. Learning about my own body in the process -what felt good, what didn’t. My instructors provided in depth descriptions on asanas, anatomy, modifications for various body types, healthy communication, and yoga philosophy.
  • Completed In-person Red Cross CPR/AED course - July 2023
  • Attended the Savannah College of Art and Design studying fashion design minoring in illustration
  • Researched and studied Feng Shui and its application in fashion. An example is how different colors in Feng Shui show how to balance out a person’s Chi. Similar to color psychology, this helps a person feel either calmer or more energized depending on the colors used.
  • Studied Feng Shui and it's application in interior design. For example the benefits of having a clean and organized space on a persons mental and emotional wellbeing. Note that the use of color theory in Feng Shui is not limited to fashion- it can be used in interior design principles as well.
  • Volunteered in SCAD's Senior Fashion Show
  • Studied the book- Fashion, New Edition: The Definitive Visual Guide (Smithsonian) - From the extravagance of ancient Egypt, through the legendary houses of Chanel and Dior, to today's catwalk showstoppers, this gorgeous, carefully curated collection shows how fashion reflects people and places, and captures the essence of when they lived.
  • Researched and studied major designers and the development of their haute couture clothing lines from sketch to runway including Christian Dior, Gabrielle Chanel, Donatella and Gianni Versace, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Dolce and Gabbana, Gimmo Etro, Yves St. Laurent and Mario Prada

  • Attended photography classes at the Didomizo art center- intro to photography
  • Took Masterclass- Marc Jacobs (online)- intro to fashion design. Within this master class Marc Jacobs teaches how to sketch clothing ideas, choose fabrics, techniques on constructing garments, from idea to runway, and communication skills for fashion collaborations
  • The Atlanta Artist Center figure drawing class. This class teaches a better understanding of anatomy, color, line, mass, values, composition, and foreshortening. There are live figures to draw so it is a good class to also study the models; a place to study individuality. Through the different techniques used in this class I now better understand different body types and have a better understanding of how to accentuate them. Through my education at SCAD I look forward to sharpening these skills
  • Attended SCADFASH fashion museum’s display. Isabelle de Borchgrave’s interpretation of fashion art through a paper medium was impressive. How there are endless mediums that can be applied and molded through fashion has both amazed and inspired me. One designer that understands this is the incredible Iris Van Herpen. Her take on mixing architecture and fashion with a unique twist of mediums opens a new world to modern fashion design.
  • Attended London Image Consulting - Foundation and an advanced course. These courses broadened my understanding of color and how to accentuate someone’s natural beauty through understanding each client's undertone, what color value range looks best on them, the personality and lifestyle of the client, and which clothing styles fit that individual best. The last day of the foundation course my instructor brought the class in person clients to work with. That was an amazing learning experience. Additionally I learned how to accurately measure a client's figure to find their true body type, how to organize and make capsule wardrobes for clients, and network better. The London image consulting workshop helped train my eye for style, trained me to be confident with my knowledge of fashion and open to learn, and worked with me through presentations and networking on my communication skills.
  • Attending a beginner sewing class through Fabricate studios
