SCHEDULE: 40 hours/week, Nights, Four 10 hour shifts

• High-volume clinical laboratory. Level 1 Trauma Center.
• Responsible for operational leadership and workflow oversight to the section/shift. Integrates comprehensive technical knowledge and clinical relevance into daily activity for the department. Responsible for complex problem solving of technical, computer, interdepartmental and quality issues.
• Performs all duties of MLS duties as defined by the department, at a high level of competency.
• Cooperates with supervisor in the completion of
  additional duties as assigned
• Assists manager with competency testing and training
• Gives input on technical performance of associates
• Calibrates, operates, and maintains all instrumentation
  and equipment relative to the area. Documents all
  required Quality Controls, Quality Improvement, and
  preventative maintenance
• Participates actively in continuing education to maintain
  and improve skills and knowledge.
• Ability to cooperate and work with others, communicate
  and instruct effectively, and demonstrate knowledge of
  theory, principles and techniques of laboratory medicine
• Exhibit an above average ability to perform independent
  technical and ethical decisions
• Organize to perform multiple tasks at the same time
• Supervises Medical Laboratory Scientists and Lab Assistants in the absence of the manager
• Maintains proficiency in all technical procedures
  performed in the department and functions as a medical
  technologist in conjunction with other duties
• Recognizes problems and deviations from normal,
  troubleshoots and identifies their causes, proposes
  solutions or alternative courses of actions, and resolves
• Serves as a resource for associates when problems arise
• Instructs and evaluates new associates in the
  theory and technique required for performance of general
  and special laboratory procedures
• Contributes to a positive work environment by
  functioning as a team member

• High-volume blood bank laboratory. Blood testing and screening service with High Complexity Testing.
• Analyzed and interpreted data, accurately identifying and reporting laboratory results.
• Responsible for performing maintenance and routine testing of biological specimens in accordance with all applicable guidelines and procedures
• Mainly sectioned in Viral markers and HLA testing.

• Obtained variety of blood samples through venipuncture or capillary puncture using syringes, butterfly needles and straight needles. Isolated, identified and prepared specimens for examination. Collected, labeled and stored lab samples according to laboratory specifications.
• Performed venipunctures, finger sticks and heel sticks for both adult and pediatric patients.
• Assisted in training and onboarding new phlebotomists.
• Trained and mentored new phlebotomists on best practices for sample collection and handling.
• Performed kit testing, gram staining, blood and other body fluids culture plating in Microbiology department.
