I received a service award from the Davis County Commissioner's for reaching a milestone with Davis County having worked for 10 years at the Sheriff's Office back in 2019.

Affiliations

  • Spillman Team; Review 2018, Transition 2019, Jail 2020 – Present ***Worked with various staff members of all ranks to research a web based IMS system for implementation. Having the end goal of eventually having everyone in the county working under one server/system. Transitioned to Spillman, worked with the same team to build the program to meet the needs of the office. Oversaw training, took issues to the team from staff to be reviewed, discussed and or implemented. Launched the Jail Module, worked with the team, IS and Motorola. In October 2023 I obtained my Corrections Administration Certification from Spillman. I was appointed to be the Jail contact for all agencies in reference to Spillman. In November 2023 I worked with Spillman/Motorola experts, employees, I.S. and all other agencies in Davis County to transition smoothly onto one sever. I oversaw a team of various individuals to test the program prior to the launch. I have also been continuing my education to help meet the needs of the office and the other agencies in Davis County, fixing errors, building code tables, managing users, creating assessments, managing records, running reports and much more. All while working in my current role as the JOS Sergeant here in Corrections.
  • DCSO DT (Defensive Tactics) Team, Lead Instructor; Nov. 2017 – Present; having obtained my Defensive Tactics Instructor Certification from POST, I worked quickly to organize the previous office training team to ensure proper and meaningful training for the office. I took over as the lead instructor quickly after having received my certification whereas the previous lead resigned. Since then, I have established an organized team, with an identified mission statement, committed to providing quality training to sworn staff. I have reviewed policy, worked with all divisions to determine what training and/or focus is needed for our annual, ongoing and now required training. We established standards for Instructors. I have created training outlines, presentations, scenarios and more. I was able to dedicate a space where officers can train and equipment could be kept. While taking inventory, submitting purchase requests, and then proposing a budget and working closely with the newly established PSU (Professional Standards and Training Unit). Also representing Davis County I worked as an adjunct instructor with the Weber State Law Enforcement Academy. There I taught eager cadets and worked closely with POST and other agencies, always collaborating to create the best program to ensure/improve officer safety. While teaching cadets it was always a priority for me to recruit new officers to come work with us and I am proud to say the few I was able to pick up, have been great. One is still here and he was recently promoted to Corporal. This role also assumed the responsibility of providing training in other areas to include but not limited to; Use of Force, De-Escalation, Searching, Restraints, and Edged Weapon Defense. We also worked individually training with officers struggling while at POST and/or in preparation for POST.
  • UWLE (Utah Women in Law Enforcement) Board Member; Jan. 2016 – Dec 2022; Advisory Board Member; Dec 2022 – Present ***Represented the Sheriff’s Office, working with the non-profit organization, recognizing females in law enforcement. With specific focus on leadership, mentoring, training, and networking. Upon joining I recognized a real deficiency in their social media presence, presented and implemented ways to better utilize and manage their resources successfully raising awareness, education and access to the organization. I also provided valuable training to DCSO hosting, organizing and promoting several training events like; Promotional Preparation, Women’s Only Firearms, and Situational Awareness.
  • Life Safety Research Committee; May 2019 – Present ***This committee was implemented by Sheriff Sparks to help gather data in hopes of improving the quality of life for inmates in our care. Specifically in relation to suicide prevention, mental health and identify emergency medical situations. I was tasked in helping the team gather data from critical incidents over the years past to be reviewed by the diverse committee and implement change
  • UOF (Use of Force) Policy Review - Cross-referenced to ‘Campaign Zero,’ ‘8 Can't Wait’ & ‘The Marshall Project’; June 2020 ***After the George Floyd incident sparked riots all over the country and here in Salt Lake City, the urgent task of reviewing our polices in comparison to the public concerns to be addressed was given to me. I led my team in meticulously reviewing policy, specifically comparing them to various campaigns. Compiling all the information found, positive and otherwise; while also providing suggestions for rewrites, considerations and review. I turned this information over to executive staff and it was well received.
  • IMS (Inmate Management System) Rewrite Committee; June 2017 – 2019; Worked directly with IT and other team members to enhance, customize, update, improve and rewrite IMS from the program Power Builder which it was written into, over onto a web based system. I communicated with employees from all over the office to present and implement their ideas for change. I too presented creative solutions to various problems and needs. We were very successful in customizing the system, even rewriting the incident reports module within the program and created a Scars, Marks and Tattoos program, writing a policy with consideration to the law; which communicated with IMS that was used to successfully identify prisoners, suspects and even a dead body once for another agency. In 2020, Spillman Jail replaced IMS whereas it was not fully web based, BCI had implemented their PC System via UCJIS and IMS was not compatible with the office end goal to have everyone on one server, sharing and streamlining information.
  • SMOT (Shared Master Offense Table) Team; Dec. 2014 – 2015 ***Within IMS, working with Livescan, Cross Match, and BCI the need was identified that the offense table needed to be updated and maintained. I assisted the team in managing a spreadsheet of data where we would identify outdated criminal codes, then I.S. would complete the update. This was another big reason we as an agency/office benefited from transitioning to Spillman.
  • FTO (Field Training Officer) Committee; Oct. 2019 – 2021 ***I was honored to have been selected to be part of this committee, selected to help organize and implement the now established dedicated FTU (Field Training Unit) whom are responsible for all background investigations, new hires, recruitment, retention, new hires, mentoring and of course field training. I initially wrote a proposal which parts were accepted and implemented. Then I participated I interviewing and selecting the full time training officers for the unit. And I worked diligently to update and rewrite the FTO Test, Study Guide and Answer Key for Corrections Field Training. Thereafter I assisted in several employee reviews as part of the training.
  • Policy Proposal; I successfully researched, prepared and then presented an update in policy, office wide, for uniform and grooming standards. Specific to women in law enforcement. Referencing false eyelashes and fingernails. *Policy implemented Oct. 2020, and revisited again in Nov. 2023.
  • Policy Proposal; I successfully researched, prepared and then presented an addition in, policy county wide, outlined standards and guidelines for the implementation and benefit for paternity leave. Approved Sept. 2023.
