  • Company Overview: The largest not-for-profit health system in southeast Texas, with 18 hospitals, 250 care delivery sites, 5,500 affiliated physicians, 25,000 employees and $5B+ in annual net patient revenue.
  • Recruited internally to lead security department for 2.4M-square-foot hospital with one of the health system’s busiest Emergency Departments (65,000 annual patient visits). Develop and execute protection strategies that ensure a safe environment for hospital’s employees, patients, families and visitors, as well as protect campus grounds and physical assets. Oversee contract valet service; chair hospital’s Emergency Preparedness Committee and system’s Security Services Awards and Recognition Committee; and co-facilitate “active shooter” drills. Manage 25 security officers and dispatchers. Administer $2M annual operating budget.
  • Conceived, developed and introduced a security team and civilian recognition program that was adopted across MHHS. Honored 40+ security staff and five civilians since the program’s 2013 inception for heroic actions, such as the rescue of a visitor from a car fire.
  • Consistently achieved high employee satisfaction scores and exceeded corporate benchmark. Congratulated team members on wins, educated them on losses and expressed appreciation for completed work.
  • Orchestrated Fall 2017 installation of a $250K HAWK (High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk) Beacon that allows employees to safely cross busy Astoria Street. Partnered with MHHS’ Government Relations Division to secure municipal funding, with $149.5K provided by Houston’s Public Works Department and $100K provided by a city councilman’s public district budget.
  • Served as instructor and collaborated with clinical educators to pilot MHHS’ TEAM (Techniques for Effective Aggression Management) Training for all charge nurses, Emergency Department nurses and patient sitters. More than 250 participants system-wide have achieved certification since program’s 2012 launch.
  • Provided expertise on security design features for new Memorial Hermann Pearland Convenient Care Center and Emergency Department. Reviewed blueprints and recommended placement of security cameras and badge readers at both facilities.
