Utilized my extensive Perioperative experience at this 1700 bed, Level 1 Trauma Center, as Case Manager within the Department of Anesthesia. The VPEC office (Vanderbilt Preoperative Evaluation Clinic) specializes in managing patient optimization for all surgical patients scheduled within the Medical system. Case Manager duties focus on team collaboration with Physicians & APPs for all patient needs, to ensure patient is prepared for surgery, with end goal of preventing same day cancellations. Extensive coordination, organization, and follow up is necessary, as many patients are traveling to the Nashville area from a distance for care. Consistently applying knowledge and skills to deliver evidence-based, high-quality patient care, both remotely and in person. Circulated in various specialties: Ortho, GYN, General, ENT, Dental, Podiatry, Urology, Plastics, Vascular, Ophthalmology, and floated to Endoscopy as needed. Heavy pediatric patient population. Completed original 13 week contract and 2 additional extension contracts.
Provided exceptional direct patient care as both Pre/Post and Infusion Nurse. Administration of Conscious Sedation for Endoscopy procedures. Functioned as Infection Control Nurse for this busy GI practice and fast paced Endoscopy Unit. Set up and turn over of OR for multiple specialties all in one day; to include insurance of availability of all necessary equipment, instrumentation and supplies for proposed surgery. Travel Nurse Position. Completed two 13 week contracts as an OR Circulating Nurse in this multi-specialty Outpatient Surgery Center. Quickly oriented in new EMS charting system (PICIS) to perform all duties of OR circulator for up to 13 surgeries a day. Heavy case load of ophthalmology, podiatry, GYN, and ENT procedures across all age groups and interacting with numerous cultures and multiple physicians.
Travel Nurse Position. Completed 13 week assignment at this Level 1 Trauma Center where all specialties are performed daily in 18 OR's, averaging 60 cases per day. Circulate and assist anesthesia, providing exceptional, experienced care to a variable patient population daily. Utilized Cerner charting system.
Travel Nurse Position. Functioned as OR Circulator at this 270 bed acute care facility in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Matthew's devastation to the surrounding community. Most specialties including Orthopedics, Urology, General, and Gynecological surgery were performed here. Was part of the regular schedule and also took extensive call during my stay. Utilized Meditech computer charting at this facility.
Functioned as primary Circulating RN at this free standing Outpatient Surgery Center with 2 OR Suites and 1 Endoscopy Suite. Helped to maintain quality care systems and standards to ensure compliance for AAAHC Accreditation. Received original residency AORN Preoperative Nursing 101 training and performed all major specialties of inpatient OR to include Neuro, Vascular, and Trauma through 2004.
