Work History

Correctional Officer Sergeant

Colorado Department Of Corrections
06.2021 - 08.2025

Working at FCF, I Sgt. Gallegos, supervise, observe, council, and control offenders classified at a medium to close custody level. I have worked the following; security, restrictive housing unit, and general population unit's during my time at FCF. With my time on security, I have worked the following posts; Zone Sgt. Master Control, Zones 1-8, and back gate Sgt. Each one of these posts have their specific duties to ensure daily tasks are completed for a harmonious accordance within the facility. On security I controlled movements during movement times, held inmates accountable to their actions and consequences, and made sure AR's and POR's are followed. I held staff and myself accountable with AR 1450-01 (Code of Conduct) and many like it. As a Sgt. on security I assisted in training new officers that were unfamiliar with the daily tasks that security has to complete. While I was on FCF security, the facility was on emergency scheduling which were 12 hour shifts. My assigned shift was day shift. Day shift security controlled all movement and feeding in the facility. Once FCF was staffed enough to go back to 8 hour shifts, I bid for LU5 restrictive housing. As a Sgt. in LU5 I operated the desk as shift lead frequently. This consisted of the following; inmate movement in and out of the unit or facility, processing RH offender's that were removed from general population, processing the new arrival inmates in our A&O pod. I was also responsible for keeping my supervisor's updated on the following as well; mental health protocol's, hunger strikes, heightened security inmates, and intense supervision logs. I frequently was updated with FCF's ICC (Internal Classification Committee) to know what the inmates were charged with and when their punitive segregation was finished. As a shift lead, I assisted with guiding nine officers that were assigned to LU5 that worked duty posts on the floor and LU5 control center's. I reviewed their reports before they were submitted and guided them in the daily challenges that arrived. I have worked living unit four at Fremont Correctional Facility for approximately the last 10 months. Living unit four is the only unit with ADA cells inside the facility to help accommodate the inmates with full time wheelchair restrictions. Most of the ADA inmates will require an offender care aid (OCA) to accommodate their restrictions. I assisted in assigning certified OCA's to the ADA inmates and ensured the OCA's were held accountable in doing their job. I completed living unit four's inmate pay and as well as FCF's OCA pay facility wide each month. I ensured staff were utilizing the MMCALL system for the ADA inmates, which sends messages to their MMCALL wrist watch so they are made fully aware of movement times, appointments, formal counts, ect. I handled PREA incidents accordingly, informing my supervisor and PREA coordinator while ensuring AR 100-40 was followed.

Q-Map

Legacy Center Assisted Living
01.2020 - 04.2020

As a Q-Map I was responsible to administer medication to residents that reside in the facility per doctors orders. In the facility resided any where from 16 - 32 residents. I was required to; contact Physicians to schedule appointments, fill in progress notes on how each individual is doing daily, document any unusual activity or accidents that may have occurred, I also received and ordered medication through pharmacies per doctors orders so residents didn't run out of their medication. My duties also included contacting power of attorneys for any hospital visits, falls or slips, or any sudden deaths of individuals. Through my experience working here I have achieved the professionalism to do the duties I was assigned to do, without any form of personal bonding or relationship building in the medical field. The legacy Center was kind enough to help me get CPR certified through the American Red Cross.

My main position required the responsibility's of receiving product through Freight and ground shipments and making sure the quality was precise before accepting. I also had the opportunity to be part of the the Interroll Group Lead team which I helped developed better guidelines to ensure safety and more proficient productivity amongst all employees.
