Victoria Pettey

• After three years working as a volunteer at Westfield Elementary in a reading program to help students reach grade level, I began substituting at schools throughout the district. After two more years, I concentrated on teaching in elementary schools because the younger students are more receptive and eager to learn. In the older grades, I mainly supervised.

Tutored in home-schools, individual homes, and in groups, mostly teaching French.

Beginning September 2022, I taught for 3 months for a 3rd grade teacher who was recovering from cancer therapy. I followed the teacher's lesson plans.

In August 2023, I took over for a 4th grade teacher who was on Medical leave. This year, I had to formulate my own lesson plans, correct all papers, and meet with parents at Fall Parent Teacher Conference. I worked with the rest of the 4th grade team to follow their lead. I worked until Thanksgiving.

• Instructed students in academic subjects such as language arts, (23 years) ESL, (10 years) French, (23 years) biology, (2 years).
• Also tutored in math. Night school instructor for English make- up classes. Home and Hospital tutor.
• Provided one-on-one support for struggling students as needed.
• Developed and implemented lesson plans based on curriculum objectives
• Planned and implemented lessons using various teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs.
• Collaborated with colleagues on curriculum development and planning.
• Assessed student performance through tests, quizzes, and other assessments.
• Graded student papers and assignments to track student progression.
• Participated in professional development workshops related to teaching methods or curriculum changes.
• Maintained a safe and orderly learning environment for all students.
