- I have taught a total of 30 years. I began my journey in 5th and 6th grade for 15 years. I taught all subjects during this time. I created many after school "study labs" in which I fed students while we focused on individual skill remediation through hands-on activities.
- I then went to the Middle school to continue my journey of teaching. I taught multiple core subjects within the same day. This was very effective because many of my lower level students were able to " loop " ! This gave them the opportunity to apply an "across the curriculum " view of how education is connected into a final product.
- I was the Sponsor of Oklahoma National Jr Honor Society for 5 years. Within that time, students were exposed to their community needs for other less fortunate citizens. The members conducted a Toys for Tots Christmas drive, severed in soup kitchens monthly, sponsored a clothing drive for the Women's Abuse Shelter twice a year and most popular was the " Teens for Jeans " swap out! Anybody could bring in as many pairs of worn, but acceptable jeans for donation and receive a coupon from Old Navy for 50% off a new pair! We collected over 1,000 pairs of jeans each year. The jeans were then given to various organizations through Old Navy.
