Work History

Watershed Specialist

Wayne Conservation District
10.2023 - 06.2024
  • Landowner consulting - I would make property visits to landowners who had questions about erosion control, pond maintenance, and sustainable farming practices. I would give them environmentally friendly advice and resources for problems such as fish kills, algae, aquatic plant overgrowth or ID, and proper permitting procedures for activities being considered.
  • Coordination of environmental education events - I co-coordinated the 2024 Pike and Wayne County Envirothon competition. This involved raising money by securing sponsors and coordinating with various agencies like the PA Game Commission and PA Fish and Boat Commission.
  • Growing Greener Grant - Northeast Region Nutrient Management Plan Reimbursement - Completed a grant reimbursement which enabled seven farmers to be awarded various amounts of money to make environmentally friendly changes and practices to their farm. The total amount that the farmers were awarded all together due to my completion of this reimbursement was $29,631.25.
  • Report writing - Wrote daily, monthly, and quarterly reports to the Board of Directors explaining my duties at the District.
  • Water Quality Committee - Every quarter I held a Water Quality Committee meeting, which involved creating an agenda and briefing my peers and partners on past and upcoming watershed impact activities.

  • Clinic - I talked with hundreds of patients about preventive medicine topics, educated them on risks/prevention, monitored vitals, and treated some for STD's via oral medications and injections. I also maintained electronic medical records which were signed off by a provider.
  • Water quality monitoring - Drinking water throughout the Sewell's Point Branch Medical Clinic and surrounding US Navy and US Marine commands were monitored by me each month. This included using equipment to check the chlorine and bacteria levels, as well as pH and temperature.
  • Mosquito surveillance - Set up and monitored a mosquito trapping device in three different locations. We would monitor the amount of mosquito's on a weekly basis to gather data on mosquito population numbers, while also reporting information to the Department of Health.
  • Barracks inspections - I conducted over 100 barracks inspections every quarter, for sailors living on surrounding bases. During these inspections I would look for quality of life issues, such as mold, pests, access to clean water, lighting, and air conditioning. Upon the end of these inspections, my report was submitted to my department head and the Commanding Officer who would sign off on them each quarter.

09.2020 - 09.2022
  • Medical Response Team Member - As a member of the MRT, I responded to medical emergencies throughout the ship. This involved lots of team work with other Corpsman, as each of us had a role to fulfill and worked together to treat the patient and then transport them via stretcher through the ship. Often times, these emergencies resulted in transporting the patient back to shore for further care via MEDEVAC.
  • Clinic supervisor - I led multiple other Corpsmen in patient care during sick call and scheduled appointments. Supervised and coordinated patient care processes.
  • Laboratory - I used a microscope to examine biopsies, cultures, and blood. I also used and administered many different lab tests, such a blood draws and urine tests.
  • Medical records manager - I solely managed all 3,000 + paper medical records for ship personnel. This included me reviewing medical records for missing items, ensuring the records were kept safe and locked up, while also mailing some records to other military commands.
  • Women's health coordinator - I tracked women's health data, created informational flyers to educate on women's health, and coordinated days for them to all come in and complete their physicals.
  • Appointment scheduler - I scheduled and managed all appointments for one surgeon, two family medicine practitioners, one physicians assistant, and two Independent Duty Corpsmen.

  • Medical Home port Clinic - I worked with multiple different providers such as family medicine practitioners, internists, and nurses. I saw a wide range of patients here, to include elderly, pediatric, active duty and their dependents. I would prepare exam rooms, walk the patient back, discuss their medical history and reason for the appointment and obtain vitals. I frequently assisted with minor medical procedures and administered shots.
  • Appointment scheduling - I spent time as an appointment scheduler during COVID, ensuring people were still able to be seen for an appointment.
  • Supply - I took monthly inventory of the patient exam rooms, by checking expiration dates, counting and replacing items.
