I would like to be a High School Math Teacher. I will be teaching Algebra 2 and Geometry this summer at San Pedro HS Olguin Campus for the 2026 Summer School. I have recently taught Math 7-8 and Algebra 1 for the past 5 years and 6th grade, as well as Elementary Schools for the past 29 years. I have served in various roles including: teacher, Student Teacher Mentor, UTLA Chapter Chair, Math Department Chair, Local School Leadership Council, former Math Coach, former Teacher Advisor for Instructional Media Services, and served as Grade Level and Math Department Chair. My experience includes working closely with administration by providing professional development for colleagues, demonstration lessons in Math, and collaborating closely with colleagues in the department and mentoring new teachers and two student teachers this year. My priorities include time management, communication skills, regular collaboration with my colleagues, and creating various lessons and strategies for students of multiple levels including ELD, Gifted, and Special Education students. I provide cooperative learning structures and help provide Intervention opportunities for students to learn foundational and advanced skills for all academic levels. I am a team player who helps others reach their potential and develop skills in teaching practices and classroom environment. I have also taught AVID to 7th grade this year, and various classes in Adult Education including Beginning Literacy and Level 3 ESL to adults, tennis instruction, and a Spanish class at the Culver City Adult School between 2003 and 2015.
