Energetic, results-oriented administrator possessing excellent communication skills with experience in managing administrative disciplinary caseloads for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. I have successfully implemented and followed established guidelines in the administration of disciplinary hearings. Responsible as the Unit Disciplinary Hearing Officer for the administration of the TDCJ offender Disciplinary Program on the Jester 1, Jester 3, Jester 4, Carol Vance, and Central units. As the Administrator, I used my administrative, technical review, and over 20 years of correctional security and administrative experience to successfully implement and follow established guidelines in assisting unit Wardens in the implementation of the TDCJ disciplinary program. These responsibilities have included the coordination and oversight of efforts required in providing Due Process hearings for offenders charged with rule violations and the maintenance of the Disciplinary Case Tracking System as well as the appropriate record keeping schedules for program files and archives. In this position, my primary role was that of adjudicator in hearing and settling issues by judicial procedure functioning as a judge, presiding over administrative hearings, and as jury. In this position, I relied on my experience as a TDCJ Operational Review Sergeant and U.S. Army Personnel NCO to complete and keep accurate records needed for offender appeals, administrative reviews, grievance procedures, plaintiff attorneys, Attorney General staff, Inspector General's office, and courts.
I performed the duties of Administrative Lieutenant responsible for the supervision of five subordinate shift supervisors and approximately ninety correctional officers in a correctional custody environment. I provided necessary instruction to correctional employees to insure that all daily activities were completed and performed properly. Additionally, I was responsible for the personnel activities including performance evaluations, employee disciplinary, and time keeping. I coordinated the unit's daily security activities, unit maintenance inspections and reporting, and the implementation of agency safety policies and procedures.
My duties included the supervision of subordinate staff in the preparation of contracts, interviews, and advising enlisted personnel on re-enlistment prerequisites, options, contract obligations, opportunities and benefits. I counseled personnel in designing individual career plans, using personnel records and data from interviews and counseling sessions. I reviewed prepared reenlistment documents for correctness, maintained publications and compiled data for reports to senior management.
