Medical & Surgical/Trauma Intensive Care Unit

• Specializing in the care of critically ill patients
• Safely manage/titrate intravenous medications such as vasopressors, inotropes, paralytics, sedatives, analgesics, and antihypertensive medications
• Unit population includes trauma victims, post-surgical, Sepsis, multi-organ failure, DKA, Stroke/Neuro, COPD, ARDS, and COVID-19.
• Assist providers with bedside procedures including emergent intubations, placement of central lines, arterial lines and dialysis catheters, bronchoscopies, chest tube insertions, EVD placement, GI scopes, cardioversion, and brain death protocols.
• Care for patients requiring massive blood transfusions, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, External Ventricular Drains, Train Of Four, Rotoprone beds, manual proning, Vigileos, and ICP, CVP, BIS, IAP
• Placement of Ultrasound Guided extended dwelling peripheral IVs
• Leading as a charge nurse by rounding on all patients, provide nursing support, and assign patients based on acuity/workload.
• Provides comprehensive education/guidance to new staff as a preceptor.
• Leading as a Clinical Superuser to provide education to nursing staff on new devices/protocols
• Responsible for responding to Code Blues and Rapid Responses throughout the hospital
• Level 1 Clinical Ladder in progress to demonstrate commitment to professional development by attending leadership meetings, participating in Kaizen projects, attending nurse residency classes to provide education and support to graduate nurses.
