Roomed clients and their animals, including exotics. Discussed vaccines, ongoing issues, possible diagnostics and treatments for patients, then accurately relayed information to attending DVM. Helped administer treatments including oral medications and IM, SQ, and IV injections. Acquired venipuncture skills such as placing IV catheters and performing; cephalic, saphenous, and jugular blood draws. Performed x-rays, assisted with ultrasound, monitoring during CT scans, and ran in-house lab work. Performed dental cleanings and dental x-rays. Filled prescriptions for patients whether oral, or injectable and reviewed in detail with clients. Responsible for performing treatments and caring for any hospitalized patients, including creating comprehensive treatment sheets and performed hourly rounds om patients under the care of the attending DVM. Helping triage any emergency/critical patients in a timely and organized manner. Wrote accurate DVM's notes for patients including all vitals, history, treatments and diagnostics preformed on patient. Contacted clients daily via phone calls to asses the efficacy of the treatment plan. Learned accurate monitoring of exotics under anesthesia, as well as administering injections depending on patient physiology.

Responsible for medicating all dogs and cats throughout facility, as well as checking on animals welfare daily. Conducted medical evaluations on stray/surrendered animals as they arrived at the shelter. Displayed proper usage of PPE while dealing with contagions present during examination. Such as any upper-respiratory infections, feline leukemia, feline HIV, canine distemper, and canine parvo virus.

Prepping for surgery duties included: cleaning all equipment, wrapping sterile instrument packs and sterile gowns. Pressure checking oxygen and filling isoflurane on anesthesia machines. Assisted in drawing blood needed for necessary SNAP testing prior to surgeries. Drawing, logging, and administering pre-surgical sedatives, administering IV injections without catheterizing. Performing intubation, and administering vaccines and microchips. Shaving surgical sites and expelling bladder. Maintaining proper health of animals by monitoring vitals during surgery, as well as properly recovering patients.

Cleaned all equipment and instruments. Washed surgical laundry. Sanitized kennels of all animals once they had left the clinic. Disinfected clinic and surgery suites. Along with maintaining cleanliness and overall appearance of entire facility.

Responsible for opening or closing facility. Letting out dogs individually throughout shift into separate play yards ensuring that any fence aggressive or aggressive dogs are separated. Creating play groups based on proper assessment of dog's behavior. Making meals adhering to customers specific instructions. Giving outdoor hikes to dogs that have it scheduled. Bathing and clipping nails of dogs as well as expressing anal glands properly.

Part-Time Receptionist

Responsible for answering front desk phones and communicating with clients about their reservation. Created reservations and altered existing ones. Scheduled services and ascertained details about dog's medication and feeding. Managing billing for clients as well as submitting an end of day cash flow report to resort owner. Constructing end of day email to resort owner about the condition of the facility and every guests overall health. All while still effectively completing tasks as a full time kennel technician.

Janitorial Duties

Maintaining, sanitizing, and cleaned entire facility, restrooms. Chemically sanitizing outdoor runs daily and indoor kennels. End of day securing facility and activating security alarm. Performed while completing previous two delegated positions in a current shift.
