Work History

Director of Product Development, Informatics

NeoGenomics Laboratories
11.2021 - Current
  • Joined an emerging division within NeoGenomics focused on the curation and commercialization of genomic data. Adopted and re-tooled a team of product owners and software developers tasked with automating the curation and democratization of NeoGenomics' oncology datasets.
  • Delivered Results:
  • NeoSeek - Built a proprietary, self-service research portal to enable non-technical team members and clients to explore our data. Focused on cohort definition, patient screening, biomarker research, and the overlap of disparate datasets. This application is used daily by multiple internal teams and has been used by 12% of our clinical accounts.
  • Data Abstraction - Built a proprietary data abstraction portal used to curate unstructured data elements for Neogenomics' data warehouse. This application has supported >$3.5M in revenue. Conducted proof-of-concept studies around the automation of data curation via OCR and NLP pipelines. Led two pilots with industry-specific vendors but ultimately decided to build our own due to cost and heterogeneity of our dataset.
  • Data Curation - Created data repositories for whole slide images, remnant specimen material and NGS raw data files to improve oversight, archival, research, and commercialization of these assets.
  • Data Acquisition - Implemented a Health Information Exchange data feed in partnership with a 3rd party vendor. This new data source provides clinical context about our patients and improves data fill rates for key elements used to stratify patient populations, optimize internal operations (reimbursement, etc.), and connect diagnostic testing, to treatment plans, and ultimately outcomes.

Director, Business Analysis

NeoGenomics Laboratories
12.2019 - 11.2021
  • Product owner for the clinical division's software platforms, including our proprietary LIS/LIMS, NeoLINK. Directed a team of ten analysts in addition to guiding quality assurance and offshore development teams. Led efforts to rebuild team culture and SDLC processes.
  • Delivered Results:.
  • Process Improvements - Partnered with executive leaders and IBM consultants to develop new processes for collecting, evaluating and prioritizing all clinical projects. Established three scrum teams, retrospectives, work-from-home accommodations, and production support.
  • Team Development - Recruited, developed, and championed a team of highly motivated analysts. Team achievements include numerous promotions, merit increases, individual contributor awards, and professional certifications.
  • Laboratory Automation - Led teams and projects to improve throughput and accuracy, including NGS variant calling, automated NGS reporting, remote molecular signout, and specimen tracking.
  • COVID-19 Testing - Rapidly developed in-house solutions enabling our COVID-19 laboratory to process >570K tests during the peak of the pandemic

Manager, Business Analysis

NeoGenomics Laboratories
03.2018 - 12.2019
  • Led a growing team of business analysts responsible for all clinical division software development. Provided hands-on direction during project execution. Partnered with executive leadership to identify and deliver on key initiatives including the successful acquisition and integration of Genoptix.
  • Delivered Results:
  • Genoptix Acquisition - Directed the integration of people, processes, and systems over the course of 18 months, e.g., welcomed three analysts, consolidated test menus, and adapted/decommissioned redundant laboratory systems. National Promoter Score increased from 60 to 67 while retaining >95% of clients.
  • NGS Reporting and Operational Overhaul - Managed the redesign of NeoGenomic's flagship multi-methodology profile, NeoTYPE, while refining wet and dry lab processes. Improved early, actionable biomarker reporting throughput by 400% via automated batch processing. Supported the internalization of bioinformatics pipelines and variant calling services resulting in an annual cost savings of over $900k.
  • NeoCOMPLETE/COMPASS Product Launch - Provided project management and IT oversight on the creation and commercialization of a new multi-methodology hematological evaluation service. Enhanced system reporting capabilities to integrate the results of flow cytometry, morphology, cytogenetics, FISH, and molecular testing (including Sanger, PCR, and NGS).
