Summary

1. Perform traffic studies through data collection (turning movement counts (TMC), radar/speed surveys, travel time, average daily traffic (ADT), pedestrian, parking, etc.)

2. Maintain traffic data through Access software, Star Next, Excel, PetroPro, Miovision, Excel

3. Answer traffic related complaint/questions pertaining to traffic signals, signs, parking restrictions, etc.

4. Review traffic control plans.

5. Manage/coordinate traffic signal, street light maintenance, street light installation issues with contractors and vendors.

6. Monitor signals on field, Centracs and Miovision and observe cycling, patterns, delays on signalized intersections.

7. In-charge of battery back up systems for signalized intersections.

8. Monthly signal inspections (2 months in a quarter)

9. Investigate and respond to traffic related complaints. Observe traffic signal patterns, movements, function on the field. Reset controllers, if needed.

10. Write notification letters to residents when installations or changes are being done in the neighborhood like sign, red curbs, etc.

11. Read and respond to complaints on SeeClickFix and Public Works messages.

12. Check and provide positive response for all USA tickets daily and order marking from DC electric, if needed.

13. Process, review and approve transportation permits.

14. Investigate street light shield complaints and follow up with complainant if shield is needed. Process order of light shield installation through DC Electric.

15. Assist in records search through EDI, Road Safe GIS, Access database.

16. Write/draw work orders/design plans in CAD. Refer to MUTCD, Standards Plans, CA vehicle code for traffic, striping, installation standards.

17. Assist in TCC related items related to traffic like signs, markings and striping.

18. Research historic traffic/TCC data.

19. Assist engineers in field work if needed.

20. Coordinate/assist contractor(DC Electric) in signal maintenance issues.

21. Take field measurements or information.

22. Assist/manage in traffic related projects.

23. Ship out equipment (mostly to Econolite) for repairs or calibration.

24. Update signal and TCC database monthly.

25. Write Friday memos for traffic projects when assigned.

26. Search for engineering records in EDI for public records request.

CONSTRUCTION AND ENCROACHMENT PERMITS

1. Serves as back up for encroachment permits.

2. Serves as back-up CIP construction inspector.

3. In-charge of pole replacement (PG&E), debris boxes, storage container encroachment permits. This includes processing, approving applications and inspecting the jobs on site. Call or answer applicants for questions, complaints, or information if needed.

4. Notify property owner, contractor of illegal debris box or container on city right of way.

5. Issue administrative citations when necessary.

6. In-charge of downtown newspaper rack encroachment permits. This includes annual maintenance fee billing and addressing maintenance issue complaints.

7. Inspect construction projects (traffic and street construction) or act as reserve construction inspector when asked or needed.
