This is facilitated in the form of leading active threat classes and drills for colleagues. As well as regularly educating colleagues on hospital codes such as code silver, and ensuring an action plan is in place. This responsibility also includes coordinating with law enforcement and EMS to block off roads in times of high foot and vehicle traffic, to allow for emergency vehicles to access the property. As well as monitoring sensitive access points and planning for when those access points will need to be used, and who they will be used by.
This is accomplished by creating detailed and accurate security incident reports (SIRs), maintaining change of custody documents when required, and effective communication with leadership to support positive operational decision making.
As a senior officer at a campus, it is your duty to fill in as the "In Charge" officer in the absence of the supervisor. As well as train newer officers in everything from conflict de-escalation and controlling techniques to paper work, and making sure they have the correct and up to date equipment.
Direct a team of soldiers in the receipt, inspection, issue, storage, and accountability of ammunition in accordance with safety standards and Army regulation.
Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols when handling explosives, and maintain the lowest risk and loss environment possible on the gun line.
As a Non-Commissioned Officer a key responsibility is to mentor and evaluate soldiers in tactical and technical proficiency. Conduct pre-operation checks and inspections to ensure that soldiers have the right equipment, and that the condition of the equipment is up to standard. Ensure that Soldiers know and follow standard operating procedures as well as Army regulation and standards. As well as creating action plans to improve competency, readiness, and operational efficiency.
