At First Coast YMCA, I am a Youth Leader for K-6 children with a strong work ethic and creativity. I demonstrate teamwork and communication, while also planning daily activities for the enrichment of the children in the afterschool care. Academically throughout high school, I was involved in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and Early Childhood Program. Within the FFA I served as a chapter officer as a Student Advisor. As a chapter officer, I along with other officers would plan and hold meetings on different ways to get members involved within the organization. Different opportunities included volunteering, barn work days, competition teams, and animal projects. In addition, to being an officer I was also a part of two show teams throughout my time in FFA. My first was the rabbit show team in which throughout the year I cared for my rabbit which included tasks like cleaning cages, feeding and watering, and preparing my rabbit for shows at the Clay County Fair. At the fair for my rabbit project for 2022-2023, my rabbit was awarded best of breed. The second show team I was a part of was the steer show team. This project involved buying, raising, and selling a market steer for the Clay County Fair. This project took much more time and effort as you need to build a bond with your steer to prepare them for showing at the Clay County Fair. At the 2024 Clay County Fair I competed in showmanship as well as market class. In showmanship, I placed 3rd overall and for market 4th in my class. These projects are done throughout the school year and are done during school as well as on our own time. In addition, to FFA I was a part of our Early Childhood Program at our school. In this program, you make lesson plans to teach both 3-year-olds and VPK children. I am currently working on achieving my Child Development Associate (CDA) which is a credential to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and abilities in the early childhood education field. Steps I have taken to help me work towards this goal include completing all DCF Testing required to achieve a CDA. I am still involved with FFA as an Alumni and am assisting current high school students in their projects and more. I also volunteered at First Coast No More Homeless Pets checking in and out patients.
As a youth leader at the YMCA, I am tasked with a group of children ranging K-6. I engage with the children during activities, snack, and outside time. As well as greeting parents to sign their child out. Also, I planned the snack for each day as well as served it to the kids. I served as a positive role model for both younger and older kids, demonstrating responsible decision-making skills and ethical behavior. In addition, collaborated with other Youth Leaders to create a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
