History of managing passengers and cargo efficiently. Knowledgeable about daily routines, relating to customers and responding to emergency situations. Inspects switches, controls car changes and troubleshoots common equipment problems.
Conductors report to and receive instructions from the Trainmaster, Assistant Trainmaster, Operations Examiners, and Train Dispatcher/Terminal Supervisor.
Conductors are responsible for the safety and proper care of their trains, for the conduct of the crew and for the attention to the rules. Must see that trains are on schedule and proper station stops are made.
Before leaving the terminal or the yard, must inform their Engineer as to the number of cars in the train.
Conductors must ensure the train is properly set up for the safe transport of passengers. (proper function of heat, lights, and air conditioning on train)
Conductors must be familiar with and follow procedures contained in Operating Instruction Manuals.
Conductors must be willing to assist passengers with inquires pertaining to station stops.
Conductors must respond to all emergencies on the train and keep the Trainmaster informed at all times during any incident.
Conductors must make sure passengers are not harmed by the closing of doors and maintain the procedural actions of boarding and off loading passengers.
Reported to and received instructions from the Supervising Communications Agent.
Assisted passengers with inquires regarding train schedule, payment machines, and directions.
Checked customer communications equipment daily and reported malfunctioning equipment for corrective action.
