Eva Xochitl Barricklow

Every Summer I work as a teen staff at a 2-week-long, social justice and performing/circus arts sleep-away camp. Held the position of nurse's assistant, instruction of circus skills, conflict resolution, and general health care of campers. Assessed needs of campers and facilitated activities and care accordingly. Provided support to camp medical team. Provided comfort and support to campers through communication to determine feelings, need for assistance or social and emotional support.

• While in these programs I learned about native plant restoration, fuel reduction, fire remediation, and plant ecology.
• Removed undesirable or diseased trees with hand saws.
• Was a key point person for community volunteer days.
• Led and instructed volunteers in planting over 2000 redwood seedlings in one weekend.
• Worked successfully with diverse group of coworkers to accomplish goals and address issues related to native habitat restoration.

• Worked at the Oregon Country Fair with Paleotechnics founder Tamara Wilder (https://www.paleotechnics.com/aboutuspage). Instructed attendees on making a variety of ancient technologies including the making of cordage from plants, bow drill fire starting, stone and seed bead making. Helped with sales and marketing of a number of books on primitive living skills. Assisted in the setting up of structures and booths throughout the event. Was asked to return as paid staff the next year.
