Yasmin Paixao

I am a passionate Physician Assistant student currently studying at South University WPB. I began my career as a Medical Assistant in Primary Care, where I refined many of my healthcare skills. My dedication, adaptability, and compassion are a few of the tools that helped me contribute to the team. Throughout the last 4 years, I have shadowed in Cardiology, Neurology, Urology, Primary Care, and Wound Care. As a PA student, I am looking forward to applying my knowledge to service my community, and advance my experience and proficiency.

• Tri-County Animal Rescue, Boca Raton, FL, Volunteer (Feb. 2019-May 2019): Interacted with approximately 15 customers daily, and provided care for shelter rescues. Performed daily facility tasks including stocking, refreshing feed stations, and pens as needed
• Intro into Pre-Professional Studies, Boca Raton, FL, Shadowing (Aug. 2019-Dec. 2019): Familiarize students with the requirements, demands, and rewards of a career in medicine. Weekly lectures on a variety of medical disciplines, 30+ hours of shadowing physicians in hospital and office settings. Observing Medical Procedures in the OR, Wound Care, and Cardiac Cath lab
• VITAS Healthcare, Boca Raton, FL, Volunteer (Oct. 2021-Dec. 2021): Provided direct care to patients in hospice setting, including respite relief for families, assisting with transportation, and light housekeeping tasks. Completed training in hospice philosophy, grief training, Alzheimer’s care, and OSHA standards
