- Worked as an IT Analyst in their Advisory department, I had the opportunity to work with various high end clients like Standard Chartered Bank, CitiBank and Wellpoint Inc
- My role was that of an auditor where in I worked end to end with my client in understanding their IT environment which included four major domains
- Access to Programs and Data: Understanding and reviewing the hierarchy of the organization and making sure that designated employees had access to data in accordance with their job function/role in various user management systems
- The access roles was tested by me at three levels, at the application level, the database as well as the operating system
- Change Management: Every major company/firm such as a bank has thousands of applications which are utilized in providing their services
- As part of the Auditing team at KPMG, my job was to pick a handful of these applications and review whether any changes to these existing applications were tested properly and deployed with proper authorization after the testing team had made the changes
- Program Development: For any new applications being purchased from third party services or being developed internally, my job was to ensure that a proper business specifications plan followed by and functional and technical specifications plan were in place which outlined and elaborated the purpose of development and the course on how the program would be developed, tested and deployed in the working environment with proper segregation having been established between the development, testing and deployment teams
- In addition to ensure that proper backup was being provided to users by the development team in case of bugs and other technical issues within the new application
- Back end Operations: To ensure that automated jobs were running effectively in the background such as payrolls as an example and any changes to these automated jobs were authorized
- Working with one of the Big Fours gave me quite a bit of exposure to the working of various institutions like banks and insurance companies and working collaboratively with my team members helped me build on my technical skills as well as my leadership and problem solving skills
- One of my projects which was a general IT Audit for the company 'Mahindra Satyam' was selected as the best project of the year during my employment for outstanding advisory contribution towards their IT Infrastructure
- Also I have worked on IT Attestation engagements, one of which was for WellPoint Inc. During 2014, They had outsourced some of their functions to Cognizant in India and I was part of large team responsible for auditing these outsourced functions and finally presenting a report
