Care and services provided to the following patients:
· Coronary artery bypass, Heartmate© II or III & Heart ware
· Mechanical circulatory support devices
· Valve replacement or repairs.
· Type A & B aortic dissections.
· Fem-pop bypass, splenectomy
· TAVR, heart or lung transplantation.
Duties
- Works as a team with other multidisciplinary professionals (Surgeons ,OT, PT, Respiratory, CRNPs,MDs, etc.) to promote quality, safety, and excellent care.
- Heart transplant Surgical Preparation - Assists in patient surgery preparation by administering proper medication, draw labs ,monitor patients' conditions and charting abnormalities.etc
- Provides targeted care and treatment to transplants patients.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to prioritize nursing interventions based on patients'' acuity levels and individual needs.
- · Performs procedures such as central line removal,central line sterile dress change, suture removal(sternal etc)arterial catheter removal, wound care,and confidence when necessary for optimal patient outcomes.
- Provides education to patients and family on LVAD ,etc
- Conducts thorough patient assessments to identify changes in condition, promptly notifying physicians and initiating appropriate interventions when necessary.
- Implements evidence-based fall prevention strategies, resulting in a significant decrease in patient falls within the unit.
- Maintains high standards of infection control within the critical care unit, contributing to a safer environment for both patients and staff.
- Admissions, discharges, transport monitoring
- Providing care for patients recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries.
