My name is Yonas Nuguse, and I am currently pursuing a Data Center Operations Specialist Program at Northern Virginia Community College while building on a strong technical background in telecommunications, networking, and infrastructure support.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Mekelle University in 2010 and an Associate of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics from Northern Virginia Community College. My experience includes working as a Line Technician with Ethio Telecom, where I installed and maintained fiber-optic and copper telecommunications infrastructure, performed cable splicing, troubleshot network connectivity issues, and responded to critical outages.
I also have experience working with electrical systems, cooling equipment, and preventive maintenance through my role as a Mechanic Technician. These experiences helped me develop strong troubleshooting, safety, and problem-solving skills that are directly applicable to data center environments.
In addition to my technical background, I have many years of customer service and operations experience, which strengthened my communication skills, professionalism, and ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments.
Today, I am focusing on growing my career in Data Center Operations and Infrastructure. I am particularly interested in opportunities with companies such as Microsoft, AWS, Google, Equinix, and QTS, where I can contribute my networking, fiber-optic, infrastructure, and troubleshooting skills while continuing to learn and grow professionally.
