I have been working as a registered nurse for a little more than 33 years. I have experiences in many different nursing areas, but my specialty was Training and Emergency. I am a dedicated trainer and love to support new comers in nursing because I believe good and professional training makes different for their future and patients.
I worked as a nurse trainer to the professional level including clinical supervision, classroom training (lectures), preceptorship and mentoring, etc. Also I involved in many non-professional education works, e.g. Health education to public, students or patient and family.
I have been working in different countries and different organization. It makes me understand different cultures and different people. Through my experience, I am strong with challenges and easily adapt the changes in new areas.
As Occupational Health Nurse, provided acute and supportive medical care to staff members and people need medical care in UN premise. I provided services in travel health, occupational health, emergency care, vaccine management, employment clearance, health promotion and education. I continued the regular duties at DHMOSH but also took duties beyond my responsibilities.
The details of duties are:
- Provide occupational health clinical services in NYC duty station: travel clearance and consultation, emergency care, health advise, laboratory testing.
- Provide occupational health administrative functions including travel and employment clearances in UNHQ and globally for duty stations without medical services.
- Provide ergonomic assessment and advise
- Coordinate quality assurance of vaccine in UNHQ; cold chain maintenance, inspection of vaccine at arrival and at transfer.
- Support head nurse for vaccine inventory planning and training: monitor vaccine usage and expiring dates, support vaccine order, monitor and provide training for vaccine record and inventory on Earthmed.
- Mentoring new nurses under the delegation of FRO and SRO: support to learn Earthmed medical record, emergency protocols and cold chain management.
- Provide medical support or participate in outside trainings per request: e.g. Traveled to Ukraine and Russia with SG in 2022, participated in UNFMAC training in Uganda in 2019 as a trainer.
I managed all nursing departments as Head Nurse at Itang hospital - RHB (Regional Health Bureau) and MSF hospital. It was a big project and I managed nursing department and other related departments at the hospital.
The details of duties were:
- Conduct administrative work e.g. recruitment of nursing nursing staffs, disciplinary actions., update and revise protocols and guidelines.
- Participate in MCP and emergency evacuation plan.
- Support Med ref and PC to manage hospital.
- Participate in necessary meetings in the project, RHB and regional authority of Ethiopian local government, partner organizations.
- Provide supervision to expat nurse managers, national supervisors, pharmacists at MSF and RHB hospitals, laboratory supervisor.
- Manage Pharmacies at MSF and RHB hospitals: Order medications and medical supplies, control supplies inside hospital and between other section of MSF and RHB.
- Manage other service sections: Sterilization unit, Blood Bank, Waste management, etc.
Main responsibility was providing direct medical cares to patients and supervising national staffs at pediatric, measles and surgical wards. It was required to support all other nursing activities at hospital and outreach team. Also it was important to organize and update MCP, and give training all the hospital staffs since the hospital was located in active conflict zone in South Sudan.
The details of duties were:
- Provide acute and supportive medical cares to patients and family members at Pediatric ward, measles ward, and Surgical ward.
- Provide clinical supervision and training to national staffs at Pediatric and surgical wards.
- Manage all the medications, equipment, supplies etc.
- Provide support to ER, Adult ward, OR, Inpatient feeding program, Outreach, Mobile clinic and Outpatient.
- Provide training and clinical supervision to national staffs in all departments; bedside and classroom training.
- Participate in revise and update of MCP, Emergency evacuation plan.
I went to this mission as a training nurse at the beginning of this period, but became Deputy Head Nurse with new key role in the project when the project set-up changed to Emergency mission due to the crisis in South Sudan.
My main responsibilities were; 1) provide training and support national nursing supervisors to take over the supervisor job at nursing department without international supervisors, 2) assist and support head nurse to manage nursing department.
The other details of duties were:
- Provide training to national supervisors to gain autonomy for their job; Administrative/HR issues, Disciplinary meeting, Roster, Statistics,
- Support and provide supervision to national supervisors (4) daily base.
- Provide practical and theoretical training, and clinical supervision to national staffs at Pediatric Inpatient departments.
- Participate in MCP and crisis intervention plan.
I worked as Training Nurse (nurse trainer) at a MSF Hospital in the refugee camp in Yida, South Sudan at this work period.
The details of duties were:
- Provide direct nursing cares to patients in IPD and ITFC.
- Provide clinical supervision to the national nursing staff in the IPD, ITFC and OPD (50).
- Develop tools for training.
- Train new nurses and nurse assistants in MSF protocols and standards.
- Check that MSF nursing standards are applied.
- Participate in the preparation of the medical orders.
- Adapt and mobilize management of epidemics requiring increased specialized medical care, e.g. cholera / measles, etc.
- Responsible for oversight of hygiene & sanitation in IPD, ITFC and OPD, and reinforce to follow precautions in isolation areas.
- Demonstrate and teach new procedures to nursing staffs. - Participate in necessary meetings and conferences.
- Support national supervisors and international supervisors / managers.
I worked as a charge nurse (senior nurse) at acute and chronic substance abuse program (Inpatient) during this period. I was hired as a staff nurse but started as a charge nurse as soon as i completed minimum orientation.
The detail of duties were:
- Provide acute care for patients who detoxing from substance abuse including Alcohol abuse.
- Provide direct and supportive care for patients who have substance abuse issues and support care for their family members.
- Provide direct and supportive care for geriatric patients, and supportive care for their families.
- Provide supervisions to staff RNs, LPNs, and nurse aids (20).
- Collaboration with pharmacy, laboratory and radiology department.
- Collaboration with social service department and HR.
- Provide Information sessions for patients, family, peers and multidisciplinary team member.
The first 7 months, I worked at Telemetry and PICU unit at UHMC. I worked as a staff nurse and provided nursing care to patients who have cardiac condition and required cardiac monitoring. Then I was transferred to Psychiatric department.

The main responsibility was providing nursing care to inpatients in Med/Surg, Urology and Oncology unit. Then I was floated to other nursing department per my request and perform below duties.

- Provide acute and supportive nursing care to patients and family members in multiple departments: Med/Surg, Telemetry, Diabetic unit, Step down, ER, Recovery room, Wound care, Endoscopy unit, Pain center.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including Laboratory, Radiology, Special diagnostic department, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, etc. - Provide patient education to patients and family members at admission and discharge.
- Provide pre and post operational care for surgical patients. - Provide supervision to entry level of RNs, LPNs, and nursing aids to improve quality of care.

My main responsibilities were; 1) provide and coordinate the professional psychiatric training at the main training hospital in Korean Army as Training Officer, 2) support head nurse and participate in management of inpatient psychiatric department as charge nurse.

I worked at KMU (Korean Medical Unit) in MINURSO HQ as a Charge Nurse, and had rotation to mini-clinics in the military posts in the desert. I performed as an occupational nurse for UN personals and I worked at and supported multiple departments.

I attended OJT (On the Job training) training at inpatient and outpatient psychiatric department at US 121 hospital in Seoul, Korea. It was one of ROK Army and US Army combined programs.

- Provide acute and supportive medical and psychiatric nursing care to patients at Inpatient Psychiatric department under the supervision of staff nurses in US Army hospital.
- Participate in group and milieu therapies under the supervision of staffs.

- Provide acute and supportive medical and psychiatric nursing care to inpatients under the supervision of staff nurses and medical officers.
- Participate in theoretical class room trainings and bed side practical trainings.
- Participate in groups and therapeutic activities in inpatient department.
- Attend and participate in mandatory training programs provided at other hospitals or medical centers to meet to qualification of the professional psychiatric nursing course in Republic of Korea.
- Follow safety guidelines and policies at inpatient and outpatient psychiatric departments.
My main responsibility was providing high quality of nursing care to the patients at Medical / Surgical wards, and at all other nursing wards as necessary. Also this job required to provide job training and supervision to entry level of nursing team.
The details of duties were:

Through the experience in broad areas in nursing, I have more more nursing skills than other nurses whom work at hospital settings Mostly I have good communication skills to meet the goal because I understand different cultures and ethnic background I am strong in challenges and know how to deal with people in challenged situation,
I am a registered nurse but also a certified health educator, certified social worker and certified UNFMAC (UN Field Medical Assistant Course) trainer Through this background, I can do multi-taking and flexible in my performance
Even though I am working at Outpatient clinical setting, I maintain my all nursing skills including IV insertion and IV infusion because I work as an IV Infusion nurse at a Home Health Care under the authorization of UN
