Yunyan Zhang has over twenty years of experience in teacher education, literature study and education in China, and she has also worked part-time as an academic journal editor (2010-2015) and teaching K7-K9 (2019, Guangqi Academy) literature reading and writing. - Her major subjects include “Literary Theories”, and “Culture Study”, etc.
- She’s also doing some research work of the relationship between western literature and theology before.
- She has published an academic monograph named Li Changzhi and the zigzag History of his Academic research (published by Beijing University Press,2006), more than fifty papers which were published in the Chinese journals or in the abroad, and a couple of edited books as well.
- She also published an English paper named “On the Two Transformations of Bei Cun’s Writing on Faith” (Christianity & Literature 2018.Vol 68.), and a paper which was published in the bilingual international journal of Sino-Western Studies (2019.12)
- She also has some translation works, the recent translation work is a biography of contemporary performance artist Joseph Beuys, the book is called Joseph Beuys.
- Yunyan had been in the department of “Arts, Language and Culture Study” at Manchester University as an academic visitor in 2013-2014 in UK; a short-term visiting scholar of Hong Kong Tao Fong Shan (Logos & Pneuma magazine) Sino-Theological Research Institute in 2018; and since August 2022 to now, she has been visiting the English department of Iowa University, also as an academic visitor.
- From 2019 to now she begins the theological studies at Denver Seminary online, Non-Master's Degree.
- Yunyan was also a teacher in the University since 2004 to now. Her courses teaching included “Arts Education”, “Chinese Literature for University Students”, “Studies on Women”, “Literature and Life” etc. She once participated in writing The University Humanities Materials (Its chief editor is Prof. Xia Zhongyi, Guangxi Normal University Press, 2003), which is a best-selling educational materials in China.
- She also has half a year of part-time experience, teaching K7-K9 children English literature reading and Chinese writing.
- Now Yunyan has decided to reside in Iowa and have gotten an Employment Authorization. So she wants to continue her passion for education. She likes children very much, so she wants to try the education industry.
