1. Exchanges residential and small commercial meters, including Meter Forms of 1S, 2S, & 12S with a secondary voltage range of 120v – 240v. Abides by all safety protocols and wears all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
2. Performs metering activities for electric and water utility customers, including but not limited to disconnecting and/or reconnecting meters, de-energizing and energizing meters, below 600-volt, including visual inspection of the meter for reading and collecting ground data.
3. Disconnects/connects electric and water services, identifies potential tampering, and notifies the proper authority/department.
4. Performs visual inspections and obtains meter reads from defective/damaged meters using Optical Port Technology.
5. Tests electronic meters for accuracy using various types of testing technology equipment.
6. Interrogates meters and acquires reads from the headend system for billing purposes using web-based technology.
7. Assists on trouble calls, and trains others in the use of procedures, special tools, and computer equipment used in meter maintenance.
8. Resolves customer account discrepancies at the meter site and communicates findings with the customer.
9. Organizes routes, using a laptop, to document water leaks, identify and assist with hazards in the field, and reports unsafe meter conditions.
1. Responsible for a range of metering activities for utility customers, including but not limited to disconnecting and/or reconnecting meters, denergizing and energized meters, below 600 volts.
2. Serves as the direct interface between customers concerns, issues and serves as the face of Austin Energy for the community. Works to resolve customer account discrepancies at the meter site Leaves notices at customers' locations as required.
3. Responsible for the meter activity within the specified routes for both residential and commercial facilities.
4. Organizes routes, using the computer tough notebook, to document leaks, problems, unsafe meter locations, hazards and safety issues.
5. Serves to familiarize themselves with the community, routes for both commercial and residential customers.
6. Cuts off or turns on electric and water service as directed. Reads electric and water meters and use hand held meter reading computer.
7. Performs visual inspections of meter, identifying any potential tampering or problems with the meter.
8. Assess the accuracy of the customer account by providing the meter reads to the Meter Service Investigator for further review. Provides data to the Customer Service Representative in order to clarify customer billing issues.
