Job Description:
The Operations Worker at the Minnesota State Fair is a vital member of the team responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of the fair's daily operations. They handle a myriad of tasks that ensure attendees have a pleasant experience and that all vendors, performers, and other stakeholders can operate efficiently.
Key Responsibilities That I Had:
Setup and Teardown: Assist in the setup of fairground infrastructure, including stalls, seating, signage, and other necessary equipment. Post-event, help with teardown and cleanup.
Maintenance and Repair: Monitor fairgrounds for any maintenance needs, report major issues, and undertake minor repairs and fixes as needed.
Traffic and Parking Management: Assist in directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic to ensure smooth flow and safety. May be required to help in designated parking zones.
Vendor Assistance: Provide support to vendors as needed, ensuring they have the necessary resources and responding to their operational queries.
Sanitation: Monitor and maintain cleanliness in public areas, restrooms, and other facilities. Ensure garbage bins are emptied and the grounds are free from litter.
Safety Protocols: Understand and enforce the fair's safety protocols, helping to manage crowds, identify potential hazards, and assist in emergency situations.
Customer Service: Serve as a point of contact for fair attendees, answering questions, providing directions, and assisting with any concerns.
