My name is Zeb Smith and I am an electrician by trade. In the last 28 years I've gained more than 70,000 hours of construction experience in California and Nevada. This experience includes work in public & private schools, airports, cold storage facilities, hospitals, medical offices, convalescent homes, tract, custom, & multi-family housing, industrial buildings & complexes, gas stations, swimming pools, fountains, water storage, restaurants, commercial buildings & complexes, underground utilities, lighting systems & controls, traffic signals, street, highway, & parking lot lighting, directional boring, signage of all types, medium voltage, fiber-optics, communications, solar, DC systems, generators, motor controls, oilfield, drilling rigs & hazardous locations.
During my career I have taught electrical theory, wiring techniques, & National Electrical Code interpretation for more than 3000 hours for various employers; including ABC, WECA, & Bakersfield College.
I have spent my career pleasing the hardest of building inspectors in multiple jurisdictions throughout California. During this time, I've worked side by side with multiple trades, and over the years, my electrical inspections have been in tandem or overlapped with other inspections of all types; including fire systems, plumbing, mechanical, masonry, grading, soils compaction, concrete, & framing, to name a handful. I have spent hundreds, if not thousands of hours with inspectors. During this time, I have gleaned knowledge from other contractors and have developed an understanding of the building inspection process, codes, and order of operations across the trades.
I have made my home in Shafter, where I have lived most of my life. I am very interested in the overall integrity of our town. It would be an honor to be considered for the position of Building Inspector.
