  • As a medical provider at the paramedic level with the Jicarilla Apache Nation, I am entrusted with the response, assessment, interaction, communication, evaluation, treatment, intervention, and transport of patients who initiate a 911 response by ambulance, and I work in conjunction with the EMS Medical Director.
  • As a paramedic, I am entrusted to initiate and use all clinical skills and interventions within Jicarilla EMS protocols, such as visual and physical medical evaluation, establishment of intravenous access, vital sign monitoring, including advanced cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, medication administration, advanced airway management, trauma management, and the stabilization of all patients, along with maintaining proficiency at the highest level of skills, interventions, and diagnostic modalities.
  • As a medical provider, I am responsible for completing patient care reports with truthful, correct information pertaining to the EMS call. I pride myself on writing detailed patient care report narratives.
  • As a provider for a sovereign indigenous nation, I have been entrusted to learn, protect, and be mindful of the culture of the people that I serve and interact with, and to incorporate traditions and customs into my patient care to gain the trust of my patients and use historical knowledge to help guide interpersonal interactions.
  • As the training coordinator for Jicarilla EMS, I am responsible for creating, initiating, and teaching emergency medical services continuing education topics, classes, and training for the current staff of Jicarilla EMS at all licensure levels.

  • The duties that I was responsible for while employed with La Clinical Del Pueblo EMS service were to operate as an EMT-Basic, then an EMT-Intermediate under the New Mexico scope of practice, to provide medical care in the emergency setting for patients who initiated the ambulance by calling 911.
  • I was employed with this frontier ambulance service when I initially became an EMT, and it was where I learned how to provide care for patients, assessment and examination, initiation and maintenance of interventions and medications, and initiation of transport decisions.
